Laura’s passion for music theatre has led her to the forefront of composing new Australian work.
Her latest work ZOMBIE! THE MUSICAL, in which she wrote the book, music and lyrics premiered at the Hayes Theatre in 2024 to great critical and commercial success. ZOMBIE! THE MUSICAL received the TimeOut Sydney Arts and Culture Award for “Best Musical” as well as the Sydney Theatre Award for “Best Production of a Musical”.
Laura is the composer and lyricist for the critically acclaimed new original musical THE DISMISSAL, which had a return season at the Seymour Centre in Sydney in 2023. THE DISMISSAL also won the 57th AWGIE Award for Musical Theatre and the David Williamson Prize for Excellence in Writing for Australian Theatre.
In 2022, Laura’s original musical THE LOVERS made its world premiere at the Sydney Opera House. THE LOVERS is a pop-infused reimagining of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream that featured a star-studded cast including Natalie Abbott (MURIEL’S WEDDING, AFTERTASTE) and Stellar Perry (X FACTOR, ROCKY HORROR). A cast recording of THE LOVERS was released in 2024 and received over 160,000 streams in its first year of distribution.
Laura began composing in 2009, writing the music and lyrics for William and Sparkles’ Magical Tales with Ambience Entertainment on the Nine Network. She then went onto compose and write for the spin-off series Magical Tales: Surprises which was broadcast on 9GO!. Laura has written the theme songs for a number of television programs including Imagination Train and I Am Me (9GO!).
Laura is currently developing a number of her own projects, including a musical based on the novel PUBERTY BLUES.
